What did the scholarship allow you to do that you otherwise wouldn’t have done?

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship has given me the opportunity to attend Butler University without the financial burden that often comes with higher education. Beyond that, it has connected me with an incredible network of people who continually inspire and encourage me. The scholarship has undoubtedly changed my life, and the opportunities I have been given as a Scholar are things I once could only dream of. Being surrounded by individuals who are passionate about serving others has shaped the way I approach my own goals and future. 

What’s the last novel you read?

I recently started re-reading Divergent, a dystopian novel I loved when I was younger. There is something really special about revisiting the things that once meant so much to you and experiencing them from a new perspective. It has reminded me how stories can grow alongside you and take on new meaning over time. 

If you could do anything to help your community, what would it be? 

I would focus on enhancing school experiences in my community. I love volunteering within my local school district, and through that, I have become more aware of the many needs that exist both inside and outside the classroom. I have seen the financial burdens many families face, as well as the challenges that can come with limited school funding. Our educators do so much with the resources they are given, and I would love to help create environments where both students and teachers feel fully supported. 

What motivates you? 

My family has always encouraged me to dream big and believe that nothing is out of reach. Because of their support, I have learned to pursue my goals with confidence, even when things feel difficult. I am also motivated by the idea of making a meaningful impact on the lives of others, whether that is through healthcare, service, or simply showing up well for people. During challenging moments, I remind myself of the life I want to build and the people who continue to uplift me along the way. 

What’s one community organization you’re proud to be a part of?

I am proud to be a part of Victory Christian Church, where I serve each Sunday. What makes this organization so meaningful to me is its genuine commitment to meeting the needs of others, both within our local community and around the world. Whether it is preparing Thanksgiving meals for families, supporting local outreach efforts, or serving globally, Victory consistently shows up for people with generosity. It is inspiring to be part of a group of people who lead with both compassion and action.
