“Try to do at least one new thing. It could just be one of the best decisions you will ever make.”

What has been your favorite LSN experience?

Scholars Launch — I met so many wonderful people.

What was a moment at Scholars Launch where you felt connected to your fellow Lilly Scholars?

A couple of scholars and I played a “get to know you better” card game Friday night during our free time. The scholars were really open and seemed interested in what we each had to say.

What is a core memory from Lilly Scholars Launch?

Getting over my worries and going zip lining. Best experience ever. Also being in a kayak with experienced rowers was really great.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone attending Scholars Launch this Summer?

Try to do at least one new thing. It could just be one of the best decisions you will ever make.

Do you lean into Myers Briggs, Enneagram or another leadership/personality test? If so, what has it helped you learn about yourself?

I took the CliftonStrengths Assessment. My top five strengths are Intellection, Achiever, Input, Learner, and Developer. Knowing my strengths helps me understand my motivations and figure out the things that are important to me.

Did you set a new year’s resolution or intention?

Yes! The goals I set were:

1) healthier which included eating better, getting more movement in and sleeping better. I have been walking a lot more and sleeping better. I need to be more consistent with exercising and eating healthier though.

2) knit a red scarf- Not started yet. I’m hoping I can get to it during the summer.

What did the scholarship allow you to do that you otherwise wouldn’t have done?

Without the scholarship I do not think I would have “comfortably” afforded attending Purdue. “Comfortably” referring to peace of mind knowing my tuition has been paid for, not having to make concessions and sacrifices in order to attend school.

What do you love about Indiana? / What makes you proud to be a Hoosier?

I like the supportive communities I have found in church, school, friends, and family. Also, Goodfellas Pizza.

Share an example of a time you stepped out of your comfort zone or did something that surprised you.

I was made leader of my team in a case competition for a class even though I had no prior experience. Through the hard work of my team, we placed second in that competition

What’s the last novel you read?

It’s a manga known as Skip and Loafer.

What used to be your biggest fear & how did you overcome it?

I used to be scared of interviews and tried to avoid them as much as possible. In order to overcome my fear, I just had to practice a lot. I put myself in situations where I had to be interviewed such as applying for roles I was qualified and even unqualified for, attending mock interview events, etc. Though I still get nervous when I have to interview, my practice and preparation allows me to give off my best.

If you could do anything to help your community, what would it be?

I would like to create some climate friendly policies. I would also like to create some policies that positively impact children’s homes and foster care.

What motivates you?

The amount of change I want to make in the future motivates me.
