Hoosiers are incredibly supportive, and there’s a real spirit of togetherness that makes the state feel like home.”

What do you love about Indiana?

The sense of community and the genuine warmth of Hoosiers. Hoosiers are incredibly supportive, and there’s a real spirit of togetherness that makes the state feel like home. I’m also proud of the opportunities Indiana offers, where individuals have the ability to take control of their futures and build their lives through hard work and determination. It’s inspiring to see people create their own paths and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

What’s a change you’d like to see in your community/our state?

Better support for homeless veterans. These individuals, who have served our country, deserve more resources and care to help them transition back to stable lives. By providing thorough housing, mental health services, and job opportunities, we can ensure they receive the dignity and respect they deserve.

What’s one way you’ve been able to give back to your community?

One way I’ve been able to give back is by supporting Reach Veteran Services, a local nonprofit that helps underserved veterans, with the Wabash Valley Community Foundation. I had the opportunity to lead a community awareness project that raised funds and organized a donation drive to support their efforts. It was incredibly rewarding to contribute to such a meaningful cause and help make a difference in the lives of those who have served our country.

What has been your favorite LSN experience?

Attending the INfuse Summit, where I had the chance to connect with current and past scholars, strengthening my ties within our network. The event provided me with valuable insights, especially the lesson of discovering a passion and channeling it to create positive change in my community. It was inspiring to hear others’ journeys and see the impact we can all have when we use our passions to create change within our community and state.
