Frequently Asked Questions

Item #1

Congratulations! Any next steps regarding your scholarship will be communicated to you by either your community foundation representative or Katie Goodrich, LECSP Program Director.

Once you officially accept the scholarship, you’ll begin receiving communication from the Lilly Scholars Network regarding Lilly Scholars Launch, the in-person welcome event for new scholars.

After Launch, which usually occurs in June or July, new scholars will begin receiving LSN Monthly Newsletters and will be invited to engage with LSN events and programs.

Here are some ways you can get involved:

Utilize the following guidelines to share about your experience as a Lilly Scholar:

  • Upon first reference, refer to the scholarship program by its full title, the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program (LECSP). After the first reference, you can refer to it as LECSP.
  • Scholars are referred to as Lilly Endowment Community Scholars or Lilly Scholars. Sometimes we also differentiate between Current Scholars and Alumni Scholars.
  • Identify within the program as: Cohort and County (i.e. Katie Goodrich, 2013 Lake County Lilly Scholar).
    • When appearing in a list of Lilly Scholars names may appear as follows so Lilly Scholar is not redundant: Katie Goodrich, 2013 Lake County.
  • Note that the scholarship program is funded by Lilly Endowment and awarded locally by community foundations, each with unique applications and criteria.
  • The scholarship program covers tuition and fees with additional assistance for books to any accredited four-year Indiana college or university.
    • Note that the scholarship program should not be referred to as a “full ride.”
  • LECSP is administered by Independent Colleges of Indiana and funded by Lilly Endowment.
  • Lilly Scholars Network is guided by Indiana Humanities and generously supported by Lilly Endowment.
