“I have experienced my town, Sullivan, coming together for big wins and even bigger losses, and I can proudly say I am thankful to live within such an amazing community.”

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my work ethic. I grew up in the agricultural industry where hard work is expected everyday. I personally believe that growing up with responsibilities where my work ethic came into play is how I have gotten myself into so many new opportunities over the years.

What do you love about Indiana?

I love the community atmosphere in Indiana. It doesn’t matter how big or how small a school or college is, each one always has their community rallying behind them. I have experienced my town, Sullivan, coming together for big wins and even bigger losses, and I can proudly say I am thankful to live within such an amazing community.

Share an example of a time you stepped out of your comfort zone or did something that surprised you.

This past January I competed in the Illiana Watermelon Association Queen contest. I now hold the title of the 2025 Illiana Watermelon Queen. The experience of going through the competition was out of my comfort zone because I had never competed in something like it before. Although I had to step out of my comfort zone a little bit, I wouldn’t give it up for the world. This organization has already given me so many opportunities, and I am only a few months into my reign.

What has been your favorite Lilly Scholar experience?

I appreciate beyond measure when the Wabash Valley Community Foundation gathers all their Lilly Scholars for “catch-up” and “send-off” dinners. Kelly and Tess have always made me feel like we have known each other for years and that they truly care for each recipient.

What’s one community organization you’re proud to be a part of?

A community organization that I will always be proud to be a part of is 4-H. This organization is a big part of my life and has shaped me to be the person I am today. After finishing my 10 years of 4-H, I have been fortunate enough to mentor younger members. 4-H does not only build confidence and character, it also teaches members about having responsibilities at a young age. I am forever thankful to have grown up participating in 4-H and I always encourage kids to join!
